By Ariel In which Ariel expounds upon the Bilibo by Moluk - a strange looking toy with unlimited potential! This post contains affiliate links by using them you are helping to keep Busy Nest News up and running. Bilibo by Moluk In an ideal world every toy that enters my house would be sleek, minimalist, wooden and, preferably, not make noise – unless it is a musical instrument! But that isn’t realistic. Other people love my child and want what they think is best for her too. And while I would love to unleash my controlling tendencies- “Bring out the toy police! No Barbie for you!”- that isn’t healthy for me or Bean. I can only reasonably control what toys I purchase. This Christmas I chose Moluk – the Bilibo to be exact. Sleek and minimalist? Check. Wooden? Nah. But I am willing to overlook that for a toy this incredible. The Bilibo by Moluk is a bowl-like toy that can be enjoyed by itself or as a part of a set. Alone it can be a turtle shell, a bowl for soup, a nest for cozy reading or a spinning top. As part of a set they can be stepping stones, a Death Star, fairy pools or a boat on the ocean. The Bilibo was designed to be open-ended. When describing their own toys, Moluk writes that their toys “don't just entertain kids on a superficial level, but invite real interaction.” The Bilibo by Moluk delivers. These totally manual toys will encourage kids to explore their physical capabilities and stretch their imagination to new heights. As Moluk writes, “There are no ON and OFF switches, batteries or complicated instructions – MOLUK toys are powered simply by a child's imagination.” But Ariel, any toy can invite this level of play! A box can stimulate the mind in much the same way. True. But not all toys can withstand it. What sets the Bilibo apart is the durable yet simply stunning design. Made from nontoxic, shatterproof polyethylene the Bilibo can withstand both indoor and outdoor play in any season. I can personally attest that the the Bilibo can hold the weight of one silly full grown adult male. Toys this durable usually lack a certain appeal, but not so for the Bilibo. Coming in a variety of bright playful colors the Bilibo will enliven any play space in a way that even the most discerning adults can appreciate. There is something so peacefully organic about a set of nesting Bilibos that soothes my soul! I may be on to something here. Bilibo yoga; it’s the new goat yoga. A word of caution though! Parents and caregivers need to be able to tolerate a certain level of risk when your child plays with the Bilibo. The design invites physical play, and with physical play comes the potential for bodily harm. I am not alluding to death, doom and destruction, but minor injuries easily fixed with a kiss and a colorful band aid. ![]() Not ready to commit to a toy large enough to sit in? Try out the Bilibo Minis first! That’s what we did and we quickly fell in love. The mini set includes 6 fist sized Bilibos in a rainbow of colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue and pink. Over the summer the minis came everywhere with us; to the beach, to the park and on vacation. They have been digging tools, a drum set, silly hats and so much more! Once, when I was a forgetful mother, they were even a snack holder. Currently they reside in our shower and provides hours of watery entertainment. Simply put, we love our Bilibos by Moluk. We started out small with the Bilibo minis. But this Christmas, we committed to a light blue in the original size and we could not be happier. In a few short months Bean will be two. I think we might add a purple one to her growing collection! We started from the bottom now we’re here – totally in love with Moluk products. How about you?
