Do you have a dad in your life who is a proud nerd? Is he a science or literature buff? Does he dream of rolling nat 20s in battle? Does he spend as much time in other worlds as he does in this one? If you answered 'YES!' to one or more of these questions, we have the list for you! Use this guide to select the perfect Father's Day gift for your favorite nerd/father. Using our affiliate links helps keep Busy Nest News up and running. Thanks for your continued support!

Dads with hobbies are a breeze to shop for. When it comes to nerdy dads, you're truly spoiled for choice. It might not seem that way if you aren't in on the same nerdy passions, though. Or, perhaps you think you've already purchased every geeky gift the internet has to offer. That's why it's good that you came here. My husband and I are both HUGE nerds. Our interests overlap quite a bit, but we have some different ones, too.

Whether the dad you're shopping for is your own father, a friend, or your husband, we have a bunch of fresh ideas that are sure to thrill any nerd. I know Monkey's daddy would be excited to get anything on this list. Bonus: some of these gifts are meant to be shared with the daddy's littles, too! Share the love and help him share his imagination with the next generation.

Sweet Drinkware

Hearthstone Beer Mug
Anyone who loves World of Warcraft or its spin-off virtual card game, Hearthstone, will appreciate this special mug. To make it extra special, you can customize it quite a bit in the course of submitting a basic order. Choose the shape, wood color, accents, and if the Hearthstone label will appear on the side or bottom of the mug, or both. I gave my husband a Hearthstone coffee mug one year, and he couldn't handle how cute and thoughtful it was.

Star Trek Coffee Mug
For a more modern, executive look, there's always a commanding coffee mug. In this case, it's a sleek, white mug with a deep red interior that's a pretty close match to Captain Picard's uniform. The side reads "Make it so," an order frequently pronounced by the naval officers of the nineteenth century, and also Captain Picard. The font is Star Trek and quote are Star Trek inspired, but if you're worried about mugs looking too nerdy for your home, this one is a subtle choice.

Matching Harry Potter Shirts
When we're all together on the weekends, Monkey's daddy loves to match with her. They have matching button-down shirts and coordinating NASA shirts. Out of Print clothing has SO MANY nerdy choices, but my favorite parent/child option has got to be their 'Books Turn Muggles into Wizards' shirt. They aren't sold as a set, so you'll have to add them to your cart separately, but I'm sure you can manage.

Literary Tattoos
I love everything Litographs makes. But the most fun for a dad and little to have out of their catalog has got to be their collection of temporary literary tattoos! Right now you can choose from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Hamlet, Jane Eyre, Pride & Prejudice, Sherlock Holmes, and Walden. We don't have an affiliate relationship with these guys, but the tattoos are just too fun not to mention!

Higgs Boson Navy Blue Skinny Tie
So you want to go classic? And Dad likes science? But you don't want to get him a tie with the periodic table, dinosaurs, or the solar system on it? I've got just what you need right here. The design looks like a fascinating piece of abstract art, but if anyone asks Dad about it at a party, he has an excuse to wax poetic about the Large Hadron Collider. You're welcome, Dad.

Books!

Off to Be the Wizard
This book by Scott Meyer is such a fun romp for any self-respecting nerd. It's doubly fun when you listen to the audiobook version, read by the incredible Luke Daniels. Bonus: it's actually the first in a series, so if Dad likes this one, he has his next four books on deck. My husband and I love the Magic 2.0 series so much that we've already pre-ordered book five on Audible.

C Is for Cthulhu: The Lovecraft Alphabet Book
This is the alphabet board book you didn't know you needed. Any dad who is a fan of H. G. Lovecraft will be thrilled to share their love of strange tales with their littles when they're still in the board book stage. The team behind C Is for Cthulhu also developed Sweet Dreams Cthulhu and a number of stickers, coloring books, and Cthulhu plushies. Share the Lovecraft, and may Great Cthulhu devour your home last.

Functional Décor

Charging Station Valet
Monkey's dad has two phones, a smart watch, and Bluetooth earbuds that all need to be charged every night. Plus somewhere to put his glasses, wallet and whatever else is in his pockets. The struggle is real on that nightstand. If the dad you're buying for is just as tangled in charging cables, maybe it's time to consider an updated version of the gentleman's bedside valet. This will allow him to charge all of his gadgets in a tidy way, while still providing storage for pocket contents and accessories.

Bulbasaur Planter
Combine succulents and Pokémon in a fun way that will brighten up any space. Look at this little guy- he's so cute! You can paint on details to make it look even more like Bulbasaur or leave it monochrome and minimalist.

Games!

Picture
Count Your Chickens
We all know that there are a ton of games that kids around eight or so can enjoy with the family. BUT, there are also some great games that can be fun for littles as young as two! We've previously reviewed Monkey Around, so today we're highlighting a game from Peaceable Kingdom, Count Your Chickens. It's a cooperative board game that teaches, you guessed it, counting. The object is to take turns counting the appropriate number of chicks and sending them back to the chicken coop. When the chicks are all safely home, everyone wins! Gamer dads will enjoy teaching their littles how to count and take turns, both important features of more advanced board games.

Beautiful Hex Chest
I know, I know. This isn't a whole game, but some games would be lost without it. What we're looking at, for those who emerge from the game room more often than I do, is a hex chest. It's a cute little box that holds the dice one needs to play a campaign of Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) or similar pen and paper Role Playing Game (RPG).
