Boon's Jellies, Cogs and Pipes Bean is an aquatic baby. She is happiest surrounded by water. Whether she is in the pool, the bath, the shower or even the occasional puddle – it doesn’t matter – she is in her element! So, here in the Bean household, we are serious about bath toys. Some of our favorites are made by Boon. Boon makes innovative and interesting products, but they excel when it comes to bath time fun! In particular, we love Boon’s Jellies, Cogs and Pipes. Boon's Jellies Suction Cup Bath Toys Picture squishy from Finding Nemo. Remember squishy? “I shall call him squishy and he shall be mine. And he shall be my squishy!” That is what Boon Jellies looks like, except with a suction cup attached to the bottom. Thus begins the fun. Those little suction cups stick to everything – to the walls, to other toys, to each other and even to you! They can be stackable building blocks. Jelly Tower! Or they can be the hero of their own Jelly journey across the bathtub. The only limit is your child’s imagination. Though initially intended as a bath toy, we use Jellies both in and out of the tub. The only downside to the Jellies is that - like all suction cups - with use they do loose some sticking power. I have read of some creative ways to reverse this inevitability online, but I am not yet desperate enough to try boiling them. Boon's Cogs Building Bath Toy Set Boon’s Water Gears are a series of five cogs that link together creating a water-powered chain reaction. What I like about the Water Gears is that they can be used in and out of the bath. They work just as well on the kitchen refrigerator, the floor or the furniture. Or suction a gear to the inside of a cookie tin and you have a spinning shield! They can be enjoyed as part of the set or individually. Bored of just the Water Gears? Spice up your life! Add the Boon’s Building Bath Pipes. The set includes five unique pipe shapes which can also be used individually or as a series. On their own, the pipes are not captivating enough for Bean. The openings at the end of the pipes don’t let through enough water to be gushing waterfalls of fun; it is more of a steady dribble, just enough to power the gears but not overwhelm them. So when used in conjunction with the gears, they reach a whole new level of fun. Boon's Pipes Building Bath Toy Set While we both still appreciate the bath pipes, they are our least favorite. If you are only going to buy one new bath toy, I recommend the Jellies or the Water Gears. Both can be enjoyed as intended – as bath toys – or as so much more for those willing to think outside of the box. The Bath Pipes, while they look intriguing, are the most limited. Though perhaps Bean and I just haven’t been stretching our imaginations enough!
It seems silly, but I appreciate that Boon stuck to the same bright neon colors throughout their toys. We never just play with one set at a time – it’s always bits of this one and pieces of that one. But no matter what she has mixed and matched, they always seem to go together, which is good because very often they remain stuck to my shower stall until the next bath. And we all share the same bathroom at the moment! At least it’s a well-coordinated mess. Brianna’s Two Cents: I don’t think it’s silly to appreciate coordination at all! I love when a company makes modular toys that go together on every level. Kudos to Boon for keeping it consistent! What Boon bath set, do you find most intriguing? Like what you read?
