I love an excuse to be silly with Bean. Now I don’t know if you’re like me but sometimes silliness comes easily to me. And sometimes? It does not. This usually occurs when my day has not been going according to plan. This is why I gravitate toward goofy children’s books. Reading a good book is the most effective and efficient way to put me in a better mood! So when you want to be silly but you need a push in the right direction reach for the What if… series written by Susanna Leonard Hill and illustrated by Daniel Wisemen.
Can you imagine trying to coax a lion – a big cat – into the bath? Oh my! You can’t just let him be smelly! Before you try washing him be sure to read When your Lion Needs a Bath. It is chock full of suggestions for coaxing your water-weary cat into the bubbly bathtub. Did you try a wind-up mouse? No. Did you try a ball with a bell inside? Nope. How about some yarn? See, you should have read When your Lion Needs a Bath! It is a goofy guide that will get you both giggling at the tactics he employs to get his lion into that bath tub! And remember! Take notes. This way when your lion needs a bath you are prepared.
But in all seriousness, if you have a reluctant bather, this book may help coax a recalcitrant toddler into the water. Read the book and then try using some of the strategies. Get silly! Your stubborn little one may be too shocked by how strange mom or dad is acting to care about being defiant.
an you imagine the power of an elephant sneeze? Oh dear! What if your elephant had the sniffles? Hill and Wiseman explore this very conundrum in When Your Elephant has the Sniffles. “Sniff. Sniff. Sniffle. Uh-oh. Does your elephant have the sniffles?” Read carefully! What follows are a hilarious set of step-by-step instructions for taking care of your ailing pachyderm. Pay attention because if you don’t you might get the sniffles too! When your Elephant has the Sniffles will put a smile on the faces of adults and littles alike.
This book is perfect for reading with an ailing little one. It turns what can be a trying time, into a game for two. You must keep the elephant from sneezing! Oh no.
Hill and Wiseman recently released the newest title in the When If... series. I haven't had a chance to read When Your Llama Needs a Haircut, but just from the cover alone, I can tell we will love it just as much.
For me, books are the simplest way to put me in a silly mood. How about you? What’s the easiest way to put you in a silly mood?
